"Well,I certainly hope it takes a little more than that to make your month. Never let them know that they've made you so happy, Addie. You don't want people thinking you're easy to please, do you?" He grinned, pulling out of the parking lot and turning onto the busy street. He didn't know exactly where he was heading, but he'd figure it out somewhere along the way.
Meanwhile, he had to wonder why Addie enjoyed the compliment about her looks so much. Of course it was normal for a teenage girl to be pleased when a boy thought she was pretty; however, it wasn't like Cameron was constantly flattering her with it. One nice remark about her looks had shot her confidence through the roof. Now she was laughing and beaming and didn't appear to be nervous at all anymore. Obviously she had some sort of attachment to her looks, right? But Cameron didn't think she could be that shallow about it, so what did it mean?
He rolled his eyes at himself. He really needed to stop trying to analyze people.
They reached a red light, and Cameron turned to look at Addie. "You'd kick me and scream? Is that really your defense strategy, hun?" he asked with a snort. He glanced at the red light again, just to make sure it wasn't about to change back to green. Then he leaned over and gently took Addie's chin, forcing her to turn her head and look at him. He leaned in very close to her face, and stared directly in her eyes, giving her a menacing look. Finally, a smile cracked on his face.
"You know, men are a lot stronger than you think. It takes more than a kick in the groin to get me flailing," he said in a quiet voice. The light flashed back to green, and he quickly pulled away and sat back in his seat properly. Hopefully he hadn't just freaked the shit out of the girl. If he had, then he'd have to spend the rest of the night apologizing and promising he wasn't actually a rapist.
Cameron was quiet for a little bit after that, mostly because he was trying to think of a good place to go. Curiosity kept nagging at him, and he let out a heavy sigh.
"I was wondering... do you think we could visit Stewart? I mean, it's not that I miss it or anything. I definitely don't. It's just I used to smoke out on the rooftop sometimes, and it was really nice. I could use a good smoke again. Unless you don't wanna sit around watching me soil my lungs." He grinned a little, quickly honking at the car in front of them. It was driving slowly; Cameron had no patience for careful drivers.
"I'd offer you a cigarette, but you seem like too good of a girl to make silly choices like me."

i want you to show me love -- ♥ She wasn’t sure if she wanted people to think she was easy to please or not. Right now, they probably didn’t care if she was. Addie didn’t think she was too hard to please. Then again, being easy to please was not always a good thing. She didn’t want to seem needy or anything. She had been told she was needy before, but she just shrugged it off. You don’t let every little insult get you down, do you? “I guess not,” The girl not only responded to Cameron’s but to her own question in her mind. “You don’t want me to be hard to please either.” She said with a small smirk. She shrugged, tucking some of her hair behind her ears.
Was her defense strategy that terrible? That’s what her step-mother had always told her to do. She said it worked every time. Then again, Addie sometimes wondered if Jennifer even wanted her to try a defense strategy if somebody was going to try to do anything to her. Jennifer seemed to be too absorbed in the rest of the family to teach Addie self defense. “I thought it was a pretty good strategy. I’ve got a pretty good-“ Addie practically jumped out of her skin, not expecting Cameron to tilt her face over his way. She wasn’t necessarily nervous. It was more so that he had startled her since she wasn’t looking his way at the time. “I don’t think I’ll be kicking you anytime soon, so we don’t have to worry about it.” Addie said with a chuckle.
He wanted to go to the academy? Was he crazy? Addie found that place to be the exact epitome of hell. But of course, she figured Cameron had to as well considering he had dropped out. Once she got his explanation she understood. Addie had nothing against smokers like some people did. It didn’t put a label on a person as dirty or as weak to peer pressure, it just meant that they had a bad habit just as everybody else did. Addie’s was twirling her hair and biting her nails. It was probably a hell of a lot healthier than smoking, but it did get annoying. She wouldn’t protest if they were on the roof. No classrooms or teachers around there.
“Sure, sounds fine to me. Oh, and I don’t care if you soil your lungs, just don’t soil mine.” Addie said with a rather matter of fact nod and a satisfied smile. Just as he offered her one, she chuckled. He was right. Addie wasn’t about to go light one up to impress somebody. A good girl? Another right assumption. Though Addie wouldn’t want to admit to it, she knew she was very well to do and was probably too chicken to try most of the things teenagers tried. Of course, she hadn’t really been faced with the decisions like that lately… or ever. She figured she’d have to get in trouble some time so she didn’t have a completely clean record. That would be just plain old boring.
[So I just noticed how I screwed up my last post.. and I'm gonna go fix that now xDD Sorry.]

"I guess so. It's best we're all not too easy to please, but at the same time, not too hard to please either. Am I right?" It certainly was a peculiar thing to think about. Nowadays, people would mask their real emotions just so others wouldn't think they were too simple, or too complicated. Sometimes Cameron wondered if it was just best that everyone showed their natural reactions all the time. But then again, the world would probably end up in chaos if that happened.
Cameron took a sharp left turn into an empty lane. He could feel himself getting excited - empty streets meant he could speed. He checked the rearview mirror, making sure no cops were coming up. Then he glanced at Addie from the corner of his eye.
This was the girl that had just turned down his offer of a cigarette (which, yes, he had predicted). Obviously she didn't do many adventurous things in her life. At least, nothing that he knew about yet. She looked like she could use a little adrenaline rush once in a while. And now, Cameron decided he was going to give it to her.
This wasn't corrupting her; this was giving her new experiences.
"Well, Addie. You made a smart choice in not smoking. Unfortunately, you still got in this car and agreed to hang out with me. And for good girls like you, I'm not exactly the most ideal boy to be friends with." He made a 'tsk-tsk' sound and then flipped on the old radio. Soft classical music played on the speakers around them, and Cameron switched the station quickly. He enjoyed classical, but he definitely wasn't in the mood for it. Right now, he needed some hardcore rock.
"We're on an empty street here, so I'm gonna go a little faster, alright?" He didn't wait for her to respond. Instead, he gently pushed his foot further down on the gas pedal, and the car moved forward at an increasing speed. He rolled down the windows and let the air rushing by enter the car. It was absolutely exhilarating, and it only made Cameron want to go faster. He pressed down on the pedal a little harder, and the car lurched forward, now moving about 30 miles-per-hour over the limit.
Truthfully, if Addie got pissed or scared, he would slow down in a second and stop the crazy nonsense. He knew speeding like this was a stupid thing to do, and that they'd probably die if he made a small mistake with the wheel. It was extremely dangerous, but that was part of the reason why it gave him such an incredible rush. He could only hope Addie would feel the same way.
They began reaching the end of the street, and he gradually slowed down again until they were back to the normal speed. Cameron rolled the windows back up and shut off the radio. He could feel his heart ramming against his chest, and he turned out into another road, now heading towards Stewart.
"How was that, Addie?"

i want you to show me love -- ♥ “Yup, you’re right,” Addie agreed with a small nod. She too wondered what it would be like if people didn’t hide their true emotions. She assumed it would be complete and utter chaos. Addie knew if she spoke her mind when she wanted to that people wouldn’t see a good girl anymore. She hated it when people assumed she was a good girl. It was true, but she didn’t want it to be. Addie just couldn’t seem to bend the rules and when she did, she always seemed to get caught. It wasn’t her intention, but it was how things happened. Addie did not enjoy getting caught, or getting in trouble. This way, if she didn’t bend the rules, she wouldn’t get caught, and she wouldn’t get in trouble.
Too bad she was bending the rules this very second by sitting next to Cameron in his car. Addie was almost 100% sure that she would be in trouble when she got home, but she didn’t care. It was worth it. Not only had she made a new friend, but she had taken more risks in one night than she had taken in her entire life. She was teaching herself that she didn’t have to be afraid of everything. Addie didn’t mind if Cameron corrupted her. In fact, she was pretty sure she’d like it a lot more than the life she was living now. If she let Cameron corrupt her, she could be a normal teenager, which was something she would greatly enjoy.
Addie turned her head to face Cameron, nodding as he said she made the choice to get in his car with him. “I’m not always a good girl. I can change.” The girl declared with a teasing grin. “I’m not a regular bad ass, but I can pull some bad ass stunts if I want to.” She said with a nod, letting herself laugh softly. Addie knew very well how stupid she sounded saying regular bad ass, but at the moment, she didn’t care. Cameron didn’t seem to care that Addie was a corny sixteen year old girl, so why should she care about what she says in his presence?
At first, she was a bit hesitant, but agreed to let him go a bit faster. She wasn’t one to show people when she got pissed off or scared. Addie would usually try her best to hide it. Her eyes darted down to her lap, when she noticed she didn’t have a seatbelt on. Addie usually didn’t wear one. She thought they were silly contraptions that could quite possibly strangle you if you didn’t wear it the right way. She didn’t want to die in a car wreck with her seatbelt off, but then again, she didn’t want to die in a car wreck with it on either. Addie thought that either way, there was still a chance of getting hit. But now that he was driving faster, it made her a bit leery, but she hid this. It was an adrenalin rush, something the girl didn’t feel very often.
She crossed her arms across her chest, letting the wind rush through her hair. She tucked some of the moving locks behind her ears, hoping it wouldn’t tangle her hair. When he came down to the normal speed and asked her how it was, she grinned over at him, laughing softly. “It was probably the biggest adrenalin rush I’ve ever had, but it’s a good thing. I need one of those every once in awhile.” Addie chuckled, letting her arms fall back to their normal position before she had gotten scared. “I think you’ve probably corrupted me more then I’ve been corrupted in my entire life.” She said with a soft laugh. “But I think I like it.”

Cameron had to laugh again. "You don't honestly think this is me corrupting you, do you?" He shook his head to himself and snickered. Yeah, speeding definitely wasn't the safest thing to do. But the fact that Addie considered it to be him corrupting her, well... that just proved how boring her life was. Cameron could think of a million other ways that he could truly corrupt her, but for tonight, he was just going to stick to the plan and give her a fun night. He took another turn and the humongous school appeared in view. Suddenly that sinking feeling he always used to get appeared in his stomach. School had been more than the normal torture it was to any other student. Now that Cameron thought about it, it was a nightmare. So why did he have such an interest in going back and seeing the place again? He felt like one of those stupid birds that kept flying into the same window over and over again. He knew it hurt, but he kept going back to it repeatedly... After a second or two, he had to remind himself that Addie was in the car with him. Cameron put on a weak smile and turned into the parking lot, which was relatively empty due to the fact that it was still summertime. He found a space near the entrance and parked rather lopsided, before cutting off the engine. "We won't be able to walk right into the school, seeing as it's supposed to be closed. We're going to have to use the ladder on the side of the school. Are you okay with that?" Of course she'd be okay with it. She'd just had the biggest adrenaline rush of her life speeding in a car with him. At this point, he could probably get her to do anything exciting. Cameron smirked a bit. Maybe he was corrupting her in a way. Certainly her family wouldn't be too happy about the fact that she'd spent the night hanging out with a strange boy who liked to speed and smoke on rooftops. That reminded him - he quickly reached into one of the front compartments and pulled out a cheap box of cigarettes. Cameron had cigarettes stashed in all of the most unusual places. He always kept a few in his jacket, and had tons hidden in his car. While he was at Stewart, he even hid them in special places within classrooms and hallways. In fact, he was pretty sure there were still some packs left behind. He'd have to find out if anyone had found them and taken them. Cameron clutched the box in his hand and gingerly opened his door, stepping outside. It was cooler out than before, and a light breeze ran through his hair. He closed the car door and strolled around to the other side, pulling it open for Addie. Corrupting her or not, he'd still be a gentleman. ooc: shall we continue at a Stewart board?
